Tita Lina’s Reviews

I was in the area and craving some legit Filipino food (not the trendy modern places that have been popping up) and this place had just what I needed. I got palabok, adobo, lechon kawali, and caldereta and everything was great. The portions are generous and reasonably priced.

Great service and quality of food. Most items ran low towards end of day, so visit during peak times for the widest selection. Generous portions for the value.

Tried the chicken adobo with half and half rice/pancit. All pretty good, the chicken has some pieces that are cooked perfectly and are tender and juicy and some not as. The pancit is good as well but could be idk more flavorful to me, a lot of the the flavor is more in the veggie bits than the noodles still delicious though to me , and wow the guy was so generous he filled my tray up like he made sure I was gonna eat that was nice .

What a hidden gem! Stopped by for lunch solely because they had so many options to choose from and you could actually see what you were getting. They have a lunch option of rice with 1 or 2 entrees. The server let me know I could do half pancit and rice along with a main. The food was hot but my husband got chicken skewers that were cold and a little on the dry side. My food however was delicious! It had the vibe of a small mom and pop spot with lots of locals dining in. Definitely a place to go if you want to explore Filipino cuisine. I would def recommend to others and maybe next time I would venture out and try something new.

Working in downtown provides for many options that highlight the diversity that makes up LA- today my exploration landed me in Filipino town. The hardest part is knowing what to order based on the appearance of the glass container. The friendly staff explains each dish but in all honesty, everything looks worthy of a sample. I went for the lechon combo. The pig skin was nicely crisp, with a hint of sweetness to balance the salt. Meat was tender almost butter like. To our surprise, the owner was sitting next to us and we share a Turon dessert, a crispy egg roll type with banana and jackfruit filling. A simple sugary glaze that compliments the non-greasy texture. Service was friendly and welcoming! Will definitely return in a lively environment with what appears to have many regulars!

This place on Yelp was 5 stars, but once I got there, this place off the food alone exceeds 5 stars! Let's talk about the food-- everything was seasoned to perfection. The sinigang had these thick cuts of pork belly with the perfect tamarind and sour balance. The sisig tasted so clean and fresh and I loved how there was elements of pickled onions and peppers in it. The diniguan (pork blood) didn't taste heavy at all, it was the best consistency and had a slight sour to it which I loved. Everything we paired with the garlic rice and tocino and walked away full yet surprisingly didn't feel heavy at all. Now let's talk about the service-- I've been to a lot of Filipino to-go spots, and at these other spots, it feels like you're a nuisance for being there. At Tita Lina's, you feel like you've walked into your grandma's house. The hospitality, conversation, and care made me feel so welcome and happy to recommend to my friends and come back for more! The place was clean and even with people walking in and out, every staff member smiled and made our experience impeccable! I'll be back when I'm in the area or if I need catering for a party!

If you're looking for some authentic homestyle Filipino food in historic Filipinotown, I would not hesitate recommending Tita Lina's. It's a turo-turo joint where everything looks fresh (at lunchtime). I have yet to visit for dinner, but for lunch, this will be my new spot for Filipino food. Their specialty seems to be okoy (shrimp and vegetable fritters) as they made a lot and I saw a lady buy 5 of them. My favorite Filipino dish is laing and theirs was delicious. You can choose to substitute white rice with pancit and garlic rice. For dessert or snack (merienda), I don't think you should miss the jack fruit and banana turon. I also peeped some biko and ginataan on the side. The food is made by a cook from Laguna. Not sure if that means anything, but it appears that the food is made with love. For $15, this is some of the best tasting traditional Filipino food you'll find in Los Angeles. Definitely, check them out if you're interested in tasting Filipino cuisine.

Holy Filipino deli heaven. I am so so so happy to have popped in here for lunch during my LA trip. Came here with a dining companion and we each got the 2 side combo plate - it was probably enough to feed us for two meals but it was too good we each finished our plate. I got the beef calderata and pork adobo along with a rice/pancit combination. The calderata was so savory and flavorful - the adobo was little bit on the salty side but oh so good and fatty in the best way possible. I had a taste of the kare kare and it was so good it almost brought tears to my eyes. I opted for the adobo because it seemed "healthier" than the kare kare but I think next time I'm in town, I'll go ham on the kare kare. I was also able to try the Léchon that my companion ordered and it was so light, crispy, and just so delicious. The sauce that accompanied Léchon was also to die for. I loved how sporadically they shouted to the patrons, we aren't fighting - this is how we talk! Welcome to the family!!! So sweet and it made the dining experience special like we were in someone's actual home. Such lovely people and food - I wish them all the business and best for their future.

This place is a really diamond hidden in the rough. We just happened to drive by while checking out Historic Filipinotown and I'm glad we did. The people working in there could not have been more friendly or attentive. It's a super small place but was really cozy and smelled amazing inside. But the food! Really great. We had a bunch of things even though it was only 3 of us because everything looked so good. We had the fried chicken, the lechon kawali, the chicken adobo, the pork skewer, the pancit palabok and their filipino menudo. They also gave us some bilo bilo, which was the perfect ending. Can't wait to go there again.
